Panasonic takes leave of Joachim Reinhart / President and COO of Panasonic Europe passed away on 26 December |

| (31.12.2008) (ots) - Panasonic Europe is deeply saddened and
distressed about the bereavement of its President and Chief Operating
Officer Joachim Reinhart who passed away on 26 December 2008 after a
short period of serious illness. With his energy, experience and creative power, Joachim Reinhart had significantly contributed to the success of our company for about 25 years in different leading positions. His working relationship with Panasonic can be traced back to 1983 when he took over the management of the joint venture Matsushita Bosch (MB) Video GmbH. He commenced working at Panasonic in 1988 where he started as Managing Director of Matsushita Audio Video GmbH in Germany. As from 2001, Mr. Reinhart as President and Chief Operating Officer of Panasonic Europe led successfully the European business operations of the company and - since 2004 - he also served as Executive Officer and was the first European member in the management of our global Corporation in Japan. We will miss his very special personality which often helped to bridge the gap between Japanese and European cultures. With his long lasting industry experience and passionate commitment, Joachim Reinhart influenced not only Panasonic positively but also represented our company successfully in leading positions of German and European industry associations such as EICTA (European Information & Communications Technology Industry Association) where he has been member of the Executive board, JBCE (Japanese Business Council in Europe) where Joachim Reinhart was President and at ZVEI (Zentralverband Elektrotechnik- und Elektronikindustrie e.V.) where he served as member of the board as well as a member of the advisory board. We will forever keep an honorable memory of Joachim Reinhart at Panasonic.
